Gold Finches Cotton Kitchen Towel

For well over a hundred years, vintage flour sack towels have remained the favorite kitchen textile of cooks. Early adopters would use salvaged fabric from old flour or grain sacks that they bleached, washed, and trimmed to size. Modern methods have made mass production and beautiful graphics possible, while still retaining the practicality of the originals. The towels' absorbency, softness, and virtually lint-free performance make them ideal for drying everything from everyday dishes to crystal stemware. Mary Lake-Thompson, who studied art at the University of Colorado and the San Francisco Art Institute, along with her husband Richard, began their journey in the 70s selling original prints at local art shows, eventually becoming an iconic brand in kitchen gifts and textiles. Their production studio, Mary Lake-Thompson Ltd., is located in the small town of Oroville, California, with Mary's daughter Sara now leading the way and continuing the family tradition with her modern take on classic housewares under the brand Montgomery Street Designs. The towels feature original artwork by Mary Lake-Thompson, come bagged with a logo card making them perfect for gifting, and are designed and printed in the USA on 100% cotton towels from India or Egypt. They provide nearly lint-free drying for dishes and glassware, are generously sized at 30 x 30 inches to dry a sink full of dishes, and have artwork positioned so that the entire image shows when the towel is folded (the artwork does not cover the entire towel). To care for the towel, simply machine wash cold and air or tumble dry low, or iron on the reverse side to refresh and preserve the image.
